Anxiety & OCD Therapy
Do you feel like your mind is constantly running a hundred miles an hour, analyzing every worst-case scenario?
Maybe you are exhausted from a nonstop loop of "what-ifs," overthinking every interaction, or carrying persistent tension in your body. Or perhaps your mind is overrun with intrusive, distressing thoughts, and the only way to find temporary relief is to check (and then check again), ruminate, seek reassurance, or engage in a series of time-consuming rituals.
Whether you are navigating the constant buzz of anxiety and worry or the rigid loops of OCD, it can feel like your world is shrinking. You spend so much effort trying to manage, prevent, or outsmart the thoughts and feelings that you are left with very little energy to actually live.
Sometimes, anxiety is an expected response to what’s happening in our world. Sometimes, though, it steals more power than it deserves. If you are ready to take that power back, you are in the right place.
Reclaim your life from worry and fear
An integrative approach to anxiety & OCD treatment
Anxiety and OCD are masters of persuasion — they convince you that if you just analyze a thought long enough, or perform perfectly enough, you will finally feel OK. We work on breaking this cycle using a combination of evidence-based practices:
1. Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT)
Anxiety often traps us in an exhausting tug-of-war with our own mind. ACT shows us how to shift this relationship. Instead of treating an anxious thought as an absolute truth that you must "fix," argue with, or control, you will learn how to notice it, drop the rope, and gently turn toward what actually matters to you.
2. Exposure & Response Prevention (ERP)
ERP is the gold-standard treatment for OCD. When an intrusive thought, image, or urge strikes, OCD screams at you to do something to fix it. ERP gives you the tools to tolerate anxiety, distress, doubt, and uncertainty without giving in to a ritual or avoiding the trigger completely. Over time, you learn that you can handle discomfort, and you can take back the control that OCD has taken from you.
3. Nature-Based Therapy
Anxiety lives in the future. OCD demands absolute certainty. Meanwhile, nature exists in the present moment and asks us to go with the flow. Time spent in nature supports nervous system regulation, emotional processing, distress tolerance, and resilience. By taking our therapy outdoors in the Salt Lake City area, we have an opportunity to build these skills with the help of the natural world.
Identify the Loops: We map out your anxiety and OCD cycles, identifying the specific "hooks" that catch you and any rituals or avoidance tactics keeping you stuck.
Anchor in Your Values: We identify what’s most important to you — this shifts the focus away from what anxiety stops you from doing and moves it toward building a meaningful life.
Build Psychological Flexibility: We practice skills that allow you to stay present, adapt to change, and take values-aligned action even when things get hard.
Take Intentional Steps Toward Discomfort: Together, we try out uncomfortable situations so your system can learn a new, more resilient response.
Anxiety probably won’t go away forever, but it doesn’t have to control you. Through this process, clients often find that they can experience anxiety and discomfort and still actively choose to do the things that matter most to them.
What our work together looks like
FAQs about anxiety and OCD support
-
Anxiety generally involves broad, sweeping worries about real-life problems (finances, health, relationships, performance). OCD, however, typically involves highly specific, distressing intrusive thoughts (obsessions) followed by repetitive mental or physical actions (compulsions) designed to neutralize the anxiety. During our initial intake, we will explore your specific patterns together to guide our treatment plan.

Maybe! Exposure work can be scary — if it was easy, OCD wouldn’t be in control. We won’t tackle your worst fears on day one. Instead, we’ll collaborate on a plan, practice exposures together, and only take steps you explicitly consent to so you can build confidence along the way.

Yes! I offer secure telehealth sessions across Utah and Idaho, in-person sessions in Sugarhouse and Murray, and outdoor sessions in the Salt Lake City area. For many clients dealing with anxiety or OCD, practicing in real-world environments, including at home or in nature, can actually accelerate growth.
