About Me
Hi, I’m Emily.
I believe healing happens in relationships — with ourselves, our communities, and the world around us. Humans have immense, innate capacity for growth, change, and resilience in the face of challenge when we feel seen, heard, and aligned with our values and connected with people, plants, and place.
My style is supportive, compassionate, collaborative, and deeply rooted in the idea that you deserve a space where you can show up exactly as you are — no performance required. I aim to be a steady, grounded presence in the therapy room. Often my role is to slow us down and make space for the feelings and experiences we want to rush through. I will also gently challenge you while honoring that you are the expert of your own experience.
This isn’t your typical talk therapy.
In our work together, we get moving. I offer more than just a couch; we might meet in the office, but we also have the option for outdoor walk-and-talk sessions, nature-based experiences, and therapeutic yoga.
We’ll integrate modalities like Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR), Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT), narrative therapy, somatic practices, and trauma-informed yoga to help you find your footing and build a sense of resilience that feels real and sustainable.
My background
I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT), and certified nature-informed therapist, which means I love finding ways to weave the natural world into the healing process.
Outside the office, I am often outdoors — playing in my garden, running on Wasatch trails, or wandering the neighborhood with my dog. I also love good craft coffee, thriller novels, and low-key community hangs.
I’d love to support you in finding steadier ground.
I see clients in person in Salt Lake City and online throughout Utah and Idaho. I offer free 15-minute consultations to see if we’re a good fit.

Welcome! I’m Emily Long, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and owner of Steadier Ground Therapy in Salt Lake City, Utah. I started my therapist journey as a trauma-informed yoga teacher, which inspired me to pursue my Masters in Social Work and bring a holistic, mind-body perspective to traditional mental health care.
I specialize in supporting individuals navigating:
Trauma & PTSD Recovery
Anxiety & OCD (Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder)
Stress & Burnout
Perfectionism & Shame
I view therapy as a collaborative partnership: you are the expert on your own life, and I walk alongside you on your healing path. As a nature-informed therapist, I integrate the natural world as an active partner in the therapeutic process. Whether we hold sessions indoors, sit outside in the grass, engage in walk-and-talk therapy, or meet offsite on a local trail, we lean on a relationship with nature to support lasting change.
